I'm in Dallas. Managed to snag a couple of rides on the Giant and Shockwave Sunday. Would have gotten more but I got there at 6:30 PM and the park closed at 7 PM - it took a long time to get here even though we left before 7 AM.

Checked out the Dallas Zoo today. It's nice to get my mind off all of this. I actually ran into an SFNO employee there.

I have no idea yet how SFNO, or my house, fared.

I hope everyone is OK.

I do to. I am worried about Brady and family, they should be ok but I sure would like to hear from them.

I hope all the posters to our east come out of this safely.

I know this is secondary to the human costs, but the path shows a a very close hit to SFNO.

I work at Dixie Landin' / Blue Bayou and reports I got at work today is that SFNO is under about 5 feet of water as of today. That's coming from a park insider, but it is not confirmed. From some of the footage I saw of NOLA today and last night I can believe it.

Our park took a pretty good hit as well. We lost many trees and our Musik Express and Rainbow took the worst hit of all rides in the park. There is alot of cleanup needed in the pools as well. It made me sick driving down the driveway this morning seeing all the damage to Rainbow and Musik. And our old Blue Bayou sign is gone forever...

I think its more of an issue with how deep the water is and if there are any fast currents around the rides/attractions. If that were the case then the integrity of the foundations could be questioned.....

I live in Baton Rouge and have also been wondering about the outcome of SFNO. That is, until recently. The website www.2theadvocate.com has a video shot from a helicopter of all the damage in New Orleans East including the park. There are actually many videos of N.O. on the website.

Frontrider:

What section of N.O. are you from? There is a huge chance that your home might be under water. The news is saying that 80% of N.O. is flooded. They have said that they will not be able to let people return to N.O. for about 2 to 4 weeks.

I think they made this decision before it was determined 25,000 Superdome evacuees are about to be bused to the Houston Astrodome. Astroworld can't accomodate that kind of traffic, these people can walk over on foot. It's going to be messy.

Donate Money, Tickets to Red Cross Hurricane Katrina Relief

Six Flags AstroWorld and Six Flags SplashTown will donate $1 to the Red Cross hurricane relief effort from each paid admission during Labor Day weekend. The parks will also be offering the Astrodome housing organizers a block of complimentary tickets to distribute to evacuees at the organizer’s discretion.

Yesterday’s announcement that hurricane evacuees from the Superdome are being moved to the Astrodome necessitated the need to change an offer of free admission to all evacuees announced earlier this week. Due to capacity constraints, officials felt the number of free admissions per day needed to be controlled.

“Our staff wanted to move quickly to do something for those impacted by the hurricane,” said park general manager, Chuck Hendrix. “We hope that contributing money to the Red Cross relief efforts will help those staying with us here in Houston return home soon.”

Just watched this, looks flooded but otherwise everything seems pretty intact. SFNO buildings and rides still standing.

I thought the same thing. What are they going to do with 25,000 people in walking distance?

This could be bad. These poor folks have been locked up for days and will be looking to get outside. Who would blame them? But with that many people next door, the free admission could become a problem.

We were going to go to the park this weekend, but we may go to San Antonio.

I also worry about the employees that have lost jobs at the Casino's, SFNO, etc. Not only did they lose their homes, but they have lost their incomes.

Where on the advocate news site, is the video footage of the park?

This truly is a catastrophe. I hope that everything remains as calm as possible, and that people here in Texas welcome our friends from the three states that were terribly hit with open arms. I have noticed many foreigners here in my city alone. The hotels are filling quickly.

Look in the column on the far right of the page under the title videos. It is labeled East New Orleans Flyover.

Well, I'm on the second floor of a duplex, so I've been pretty hopeful. But now with the "failing pumps" and "levee breach" I've become quite a bit more concerned.

I'm also concerned about my parents' house, even though they are at one of the highest elevations in the city which has NEVER flooded before.

But even if everything I own comes out of this unscathed, this has been enough of a wake up call for me to get the heck out of there for good...

Dallas/Ft. Worth is the leading candidate for a permanent relocation.
