Six Flags New Orleans, once teeming with shrieking tourists, sits empty and overgrown with weeds in the eastern part of the city — a hulking, rusting reminder of the devastation unleashed by Hurricane Katrina nearly four years ago.

says Joel Waltzer, . "Passing by every day and looking at a dormant family park is tough to stomach."

Try looking at an empty field for three years!

Six of one, half a dozen of the other when you know that the dormant park has been damaged beyond any reasonable hope of rebuilding. Where the stinger kicks in, though, is that SFNO was a financial sinkhole eventually destroyed by a natural disaster beyond anyone's control. Astroworld was a thriving and successful park that was sacrificed on the altar of short-term profit and loss by horrendous management.
