Boardwalk Bullet is closed for the off-season maintenance that was delayed due to Ike. Didn't get too good of a view since it was dark but it looked like they are in the process of replacing the wood on the first drop.

Also, the new drop tower is all lit up and looks pretty cool.

It wasn't a planned trip...noticed it lit up from the Target parking lot. Since we hadn't thought about it, we forgot to take a camera with. May try to go down tomorrow evening and get some pictures to share.

I stopped by this afternoon and saw a lot of work being done on the bullet particularly on the first drop and turn. A crew was on the first drop taking the rails off and on the first turn it looked like the track had already been removed.

Don't know...they are doing a lot of work. It will probably be several weeks.

Do you know what the first wood will improve?

That is the part needing least of anything from the riders point of view.
Are they hoping to increase the overall speed that way?

Yeah I agree, the part they are working on (the same part that was town down last time) has been 'fixed' from a riders standpoint for some time now. Your guess is as good as any, perhaps they are changing it to increase the speed as you speculate.

All the track and ledgers have now been COMPLETELY removed at the bottom of the drop going around to the zig zag!

So I wasn't just going crazy when I saw what appeared to be NO track? Shocked

Certainly interesting place to be working. Makes you wonder...

I can't help but to guess by working on something on the drop they hope to bring the speed up 3-5 mph.
