Hey all... I figured this would be a good place to release my SFoT recreation as any. If any of you have RCT3 (with both the Wild! and Soaked! add-ons) you can check out my complete recreation of SFoT. It doesn't use any CS (custom scenery) so it should run without having to install any additional add-ons. See below for more info/screenshots/download link.

Real park recreation for the 2008 season by Brandon Rodriguez
I started to make a Six Flags over Texas recreation in RCT3 a long time ago and had all-but-forgotten
about it until recently when I finally decided to finish it. I tried to balance my time between making
it accurate and putting in plenty of detail, while not adding so much detail that I wouldn't finish
(what almost happened the first time around). All in all, I spent over 43 hours creating this park by
my calculations. Hope you enjoy!
Requirements:
This game requires RCT3, along with BOTH the Wild! and Soaked! add-ons to run (or alternatively, RCT3
Platinum). If you don't have the game, Atari is offering it as a digital download (for purchase) here:
http://www.atari.com/rollercoastertycoon/us/news/97
Highlights:
- (Almost) all rides (see below), food stalls (and buildings), and facilities (restrooms/ATMs/guest
services) are included and are generally accurate
- Roller coasters have most accurate layouts that RCT3 will allow (except for Judge, see below)
- Most buildings are pretty accurate to their real-life counterparts
- The ride layout (and animatronics/effects) of the park's Yosemite Sam's Gold River Adventure vaguely
match the layout and storyline of the real ride (if you use a bit of your imagination and know the real
ride well enough)
- Staff has already been setup and the park has been tested so it should work well enough with guests
Known Issues/Inaccuracies/Limitations:
- No Titan (RCT3's max park size still wasn't large enough to include it)
- Log Ride layouts are off (mostly the final lifts/drops due to size limitations)
- Judge Roy Scream layout is a bit off due to size limitations (the "out" part is missing a hill)
- Various Looney Tunes Land rides & other flat rides are "wrong" since RCT3 didn't have them
- Various entrances were modified so they could work better for RCT3 (Texas Giant's long queue would've
been way too long in RCT3 so it's trimmed down significantly)
- El Sombrero in wrong place/Mexico's tea cups are not included (when I started this park long ago, El
Sombrero was in its old location [by La Vibora] but I'm too lazy to fix all that now)
- Various proportions are off (again, due to RCT3's isometric ride placement, it was impossible to get
all the rides at all the right angles which affected various distances)
- Various proportions are also off because in reality, many of the blank spaces that were left were staff
areas that I just decided to fill with trees instead
- Tony Hawk's Big Spin's layout/queue may be off (I haven't been to the park since this ride opened so I
guessed the layout from photos but still had no clue where the queue goes)
- Bumper Cars in Goodtimes Square weren't included as I heard they're SBNO anyway (yet Casa Magnetica is
included since I built that part of the park before it was SBNO) |

Excellent job! I would like to see someone do a recreation of the "classic" SFoT in either RCT2 or RCT3. That is, how the park looked in the mid 1970's when it still had the Happy Motoring frewways, Astrolift, LaSalles Riverboat, and other rides that are now long gone.
Just a thought.... _________________ Last train departed the station Saturday, October 30, 2005. Gone but not forgotten - 38 years of wonderful memories! |
