I was reading some postings over on sfftnet and they were talking about rumors of moving the old Batman ride from New Orleans to Fiesta Texas. It said there were sightings of parts of the ride being moved there already. Anyone else hear anything about this?

There is also a little tidbit about it on screamscape. Could just be rumor, but interesting to see what happens

Interesting rumour... hopefully one of the FT spies can shed some light?

Is the NO "Batman: The Ride" a great coaster? Any comments from someone who has ridden it? I can't imagine where they would put it. Sounds pretty cool anyway.

I am assuming it's like the B:TR at Six Flags StL. From what I remember, the one at StL and the one in NO were the 2 B:TR that were mirror image of the original one. I've ridden the one that drops left and the mirror image that drops right and it is a different ride. *to me that is*

Wow! I didn't know that this wasn't being discussed yet!

Check out more info: http://sfftnet.com/forums/showthread.php?t=839

This will be very interesting to find out how this will come to play. What are your opinions...does FT need a clone of the same coaster 15 min down the road? I have mixed opinions. I believe that SFFT and SWSA attract two complete different types of crowds. If you go to SW more than likely you're going for the animal attractions; and SF for the amusement and roller coasters. *Just my opinion though* This will give people one more reason to go to FT, and one less reason to go to SW, if it's the coasters they are after. I would be more than happy if FT got the ride, but just wonder how they would work it into the section of the park.

Last word I received was the SFNO Batman was still on property at SFNO in pieces.

It does have one quality that makes it irresistible. It's paid for.

I think alot of us have had a chance to ride the B&M inverted coasters at SFOT and Sea World... which are basically all the same design (I believe the SFNO version is mirrored). Great White (although slightly shorter) has some great ride elements and I really enjoyed it. Not quite as rough as Serial Thriller IMO. I think it would be a good addition to FT, which doesnt have an inverted coaster as of yet. It definitely couldnt hurt attendance at least. Wink

I realize this is just a rumour at this point, but another person has come forward and claimed to have seen black and yellow track in a fenced area of the park. Again, this is just someone's random posting, but a possible separate sighting to add to the mix.

I'm pretty sure B:TR would be a welcomed addition by all. The only ones that would really know the difference would be the enthusiasts. Heck, I remember working at the Rattler back in the day and people asking me if the Rattler went upside down. With that being said, i dont think your average Joe is going to recognize it's the same thing as Great White or the BTR in Dallas.

It makes a ton of sense. What other Six Flags park does not have one or a Vekoma SLC?

I think SFFT is the only park I've been to that didnt have some type of inverted coaster.

Thanks for the additional info about the ride dravenspirit. I haven't ridden either coaster at SFOT or Sea World. When I last went to Sea World, there were no rides. From what everyone is saying, It seems a coaster like that would be a welcome addition to Fiesta Texas.

I agree that SW draws a large percentage of their guests (probably the majority) for the shows. But I also doubt the addition of a BTR clone down the street will really hurt Sea World's coaster drawing power.

Why so? Because you could put TEN BTR clones into Fiesta and Sea World would still have IMO the best coaster in the city of San Antonio and arguably the best steel in Texas - Steel Eel! If you want a classic hypercoaster/airtime experience, Sea World is still the only game in town that offers this. And it's not like Sea World will stop operating their Batman clone once Fiesta's opens.

I think it would be more likely to backfire on Fiesta than hurt Sea World once people realize BTR is the same coaster they've been riding for a decade at their other park. Then again, this will be a lot cheeper for SF than buying a new unique coaster for the park from scratch, and if the attendance spike is not as strong as a unique coaster new to the city/area would have been, SF will still probably come out ahead by saving a significant amount of coin due to the ride being used and already paid for.
