At first I thought the color scheme looks weird and ugly. But the more I look at i with the trains and everything I think it looks awesome! Hopefully the ride will give good expectations.

Late Saturday evening my husband and I decided to go to the park for the last couple of hours of the day, just to walk around. We got there about 7 p.m. and as we walked past Goliath I thought I saw non-park staff walking through the Goliath 'plaza'.

When we got into the park I saw that the gate to the picnic grounds was open, so we walked over to see if we could go in (there was a special event taking place in the picnic grounds). We were able to go in, so I took the opportunity to see how construction was progressing there. However, since we had planned to just walk around the park for the last bit of the day, I didn't have my camera.

I did the best I could with the built-in camera on my phone, and below are the photos I took....

Oh, and one other thing... they had all of the 'spotlights' turned on at the ride this weekend, and all I can say is WOW. It is VERY beautiful lit up at night and really makes a statement. If the yellow didn't "pop" enough during the day, it sure does at night. I want to try and get some shots of that this-coming weekend.

Yeah, when I was leaving work, I looked back at Goliath on my way to the car and it is easily the brightest lit ride in the whole park, it will indeed catch everyone's attention at night... You can't mistake the ride at night from the freeway either...

That's one thing I miss in Houston. Driving down 610 at night past SFAW and seeing Serial Thriller all lit up. *sigh*

Please forgive my ignorance, but is there any revised news as to when Goliath will open?

There's certainly no ignorance in your question! But no, we haven't heard anything quite yet. By the looks of the area I'd say they're really close... but no date has been announced just yet.

I don't know if we'll hear anything ahead of time, or just find out by going to the park one day and seeing it open (like parks sometimes do with a soft opening... SWSA did that last year with JTA), but either way, I'll be sure to let y'all know!

Honestly, I don't know. I haven't heard anything about 'fanfare', but maybe there will be some sort of info on the park fliers this weekend; I'll be sure to check.

They have now 'announced' on the SF site that there will be 2-hrs of ERT for season passholders from 6:30-8:30p.m. on opening day. But let's just keep this to ourselves... we don't want *everyone* to know! Cool (lol Razz )

The park is looking for people named David to come ride the ride on opening day for the media. Other than that, I haven't heard of anything. There is no media day that ACE or coaster clubs are invited to (never has been at Fiesta Texas).
