Goliath Soars into Six Flags Fiesta Texas Bringing Major Park Coaster Count to Eight

Set to Open Spring 2008

The opening of "Goliath," the ultimate inverted coaster, will add a powerful new dimension of thrill technology to an already astounding coaster line-up at Six Flags Fiesta Texas in 2008. Set to open in spring of 2008, "Goliath" will feature a unique radiating blue steel track and high-speed yellow, blue and orange trains that suspend riders from the coaster track.

Once aboard the unconventional suspended 28-passenger trains, the bottom drops out from beneath the riders and they soar out of the station four abreast to experience spine-tingling gravitational forces and the sensation of racing at 50 mph with nothing beneath their feet but earth and sky.

As riders race across the track, they climb skyward for 10 stories before literally flying up and over a heart-pounding vertical loop and into the ride of their lives! "Goliath," which reaches 105 feet, gives riders the sensation of weightlessness as they race through a zero-gravity heartline spin. Riders will fly head-over-heels through five inversions, including seven-story loops and two additional corkscrews.

"Goliath" will be located in Los Festivales, and will provide a colorful and visually striking landmark as guests enter the park. At a cost of $15 million, the ride is manufactured by Bollinger & Mabillard, the Switzerland masters of innovative coaster design and the pre-eminent creator of inverted coasters.

"'Goliath' will add a new coaster sensation to Six Flags Fiesta Texas next season, as riders are suspended from the track while their feet hang freely below. We constantly strive to add additions to the park which will complement our existing roster of award-winning shows and supreme thrills...and we believe our guests will agree that we've accomplished that goal with this exciting addition," said
Six Flags Fiesta Texas President Martin Bozer.

2008 promises to be another memorable season at Six Flags Fiesta Texas, with a return of the Summer Concert Series, the Lone Star Spectacular laser/fireworks extravaganza and, of course, the inclusion of a free waterpark, White Water Bay. More news is yet to follow with regard to specific shows offered; but guests can be sure that the park is sure to maintain the tradition of presenting the "best theme park shows in the country," awarded to Six Flags Fiesta Texas by "Amusement Today" for nine consecutive years.

Fiesta Texas will re-open for the new season on March 15, 2008.

Well guys, it's officially announced! Goliath shall grace the skies of San Antonio.... My only curiousity (other than it's 'theming'...) is, where will this ride be located? I mean, where in Los Festivales. I can think of the picnic areas... or the hill by Lone Star Lil's, if they put the entrance near Boomer's. But if you look at the park from the sky, I think the ride would fit perfectly into the picnic area... Also, who thinks Texas is banking on coasters (in general) this season? Tony Hawk, Goliath, BBullet? It's a strange influx that Texas has been needing...

Comments?

There is a fence up around the outside of the park that borders the picnic area. (Also know as the Parade Grounds)

Oh, wow. Is that seriously where it will be installed? Isn't that like, right on the driveway for the parking? That's seems like it is basically outside of the park... I wonder where the entrance will lead from?

it's going somewhere up in that area...not sure of exact placement. Don't know if it will actually be out into the parking lot like that or not or if they just have lots of extra space blocked off.

They will probably do a "push out" section of the park like they did with White Water Bay when they made the wave pool.

You need to ask Txnhrt about that...she's MUCH closer than I am.

If people here are willing to fund gas and hotel for me to go every week, I'll be more than happy to get them myself Smile

I will do the very best job I can guys! They may not be as extensive and detailed as Jason's photos of Bullet, depending on fences, barriers, buildings, etc., but I will definintely do what I can to provide construction coverage!

Yep, it was at SFNO. But is it really 10 stories high? Becuase when it was at SFNO it really didn't look 10 stories high.

Here's a few "first" photos that were taken yesterday. This first post will be the 'announcement' signs...

The last one is the side of Zaragoza Theatre...
