| In 2008 Texas will have two Tony Hawks Big Spin rides... San Antonio and Arlington. This ride will replace the Wildcatter. |

Please try to refrain from posting rumors on this site without information to back it up. We've had too many problems with it in the past. _________________ Jason |

Thank you for the confirmation...I didn't have time to search.
If you post something about a new ride it is always best to post a link to a story if there is one. Just going by rumors, Fiesta Texas should have about 5 B&M flyers by now _________________ Jason |

| The person who told me about the new ride at SFoT is 100% reliable. I wasn't aware I needed to have a link. Sorry I upset some people. |

This is the most dumbest idea Shapiro could have eva come up with. I am so so sick of Six Flags clones. It would be different if it was at another park 1000 miles away from one another. This little pokie but ride cost 6 million dollars oh come on now. They would have done better getting a Boardwalk Bullet. Tony Hawk didnt make anyone run to SFFT and spend any money. I know a lot of people who like to ride to both parks from other cities in Texas but now there would be no reason because they are too cloned. They should have come up with something different. This is DUMB DUMB DUMB DUMB.
Where was the wildcatter I dont remember a ride there called that? _________________ MAGIC MOUNTAIN FREAK |

That's okay..it's just that in the past there have been people that have posted here that saying certain parks are getting rides and people get all worked up about it and then nothing ever happens. Always best to back up any "this park is getting this ride" posts with actual news stories or press releases. _________________ Jason |

Please calm down...there is no reason for a post like this. Six Flags is trying to give more for families to do and Tony Hawk did that at the two parks it was put in last year and I'm sure it'll do the same for Fiesta Texas. It's not necessarily about getting people to go to the parks...it's about getting people already in the parks to stay longer and spend more money. Too cloned? Six Flags Over Texas will have 13 roller coasters with the addition of Tony Hawk, only 2 of those will be at Fiesta Texas (possibly 3 depending on what happens with the BTR track currently at the park). That still leaves 10 roller coasters that aren't at Fiesta Texas.
When Shapiro took over the chain he was quoted as saying "No more Goliaths" referring to the mult-million dollar ride at Six Flags Over Georgia. I wouldn't expect to see huge and unique rides at any Six Flags park until some of the debt starts to get paid off. Much cheaper to put in a clone than to have a new one designed.
Wildcatter was the intamin first generation freefall. _________________ Jason |

As far as "Family Coasters" this is not too bad. Yes, it is a clone of the one at Fiesta but I have not been there yet this year to ride. My son says it is great and I believe him.
I am not surprised to see these clones showing up. I have said before, being unique cost a lot more money than using established theming and licensing.
Six Flags needs to create a family atmosphere and do it as cheaply as possible. This ride will fit the bill.

We could get that or we could get nothing.
From what I understand Shapiro is trying to get something new IN EVERY PARK for next season. When was the last time every single park in every single park chain could brag about something new for the same season, no matter how insignificant?
If this were going in at AstroWorld, folks around here would be jumping for joy. |

Oh no now u mean there is a forum where people cant express their dislike about a decision a park makes. On other major forums who feel the exact same way I do. Oh no problem wont post on here anymore. Didnt know that You couldnt express ur opinion on here. Didnt know that Shapiros family was on here and I dont appreciate anyone telling me to calm down. Hey I was just expressing an opinion. I am sure this will deleted but that is fine. _________________ MAGIC MOUNTAIN FREAK |

You're a member of a board for die-hard fans of a park that doesn't exist anymore. This board has been around for 5 years now. We've gone through not getting so much as new paint for the rides at this park, to watching it starting to get an identity back, to watching it get leveled.
The theme park world doesn't revolve around what the coaster fans and enthusiasts want. They are after family-money. We think it's a better approach to remind people that it's not just about those of us here and other coaster websites the theme park corporations are trying to please. We think it's a better approach to remind people who post things like that to keep an open mind. No forum moderator or administrator wants to deal with something they deem as negative hostility on their websites, and that's why you were asked to calm down.
Shapiro may not be the smartest theme park operator on the planet, but he has done more for Six Flags in the past year that Kieran Burke and Gary Story did in 8 years. Thanks to them, Shapiro has the gargantuan task of trying to make Six Flags successful again. Burke and Story only cared about getting the biggest baddest things out there at the expense of the entire guest experience. Thanks to them, AstroWorld is gone and can only live on in people's minds, hearts, pictures, and videos. I'll take one cloned coaster over 10 bulldozed/scrapped coasters ANY DAY OF THE YEAR! |

I don't think it was what you said as much as how it was expressed.
We can certainly express our opinions, as long as it's done calmly, intelligently, and tactfully. Many of us here have expressed our angst about things we're not necessarily thrilled about, and that is okay. We just don't want to come across as though we're "yelling".
I've visited other forum sites, and was a member of several. Over the past 1-1/2 to 2 yrs I've shaved the number down to two. The two I chose were chosen because members were/are allowed to share their opinions, but did so in a mature, thoughtful way. Other sites lost me because it seemed that all people did was argue and try to "force" their opinions.
If SFoT is to get their own THBS, I agree that it will be a nice addition to the "family" package. Not everyone has the opportunity to drive 4-1/2 to 5 hours to try something 'new', and I'm sure there are a number of folks in and around Arlington that will welcome the addition.
It's certainly not a "Goliath" from the standpoint of 'adult thrill' ride, but it IS a lot of fun. It's definitely in the top 5 of my list of "family rides", and my grandson LOVES it.
And like ThatTh*ngGirl said... it could be something or nothing. At least it's something.

| Welcome, almightyfire. I would like to think your opinion would be welcome here, and anyone elses. Remember the fundamentals of life, stay true to what you say and believe in yourself and that is all that matters. It would be truly a VERY VERY boring forum if everyone had the same opinion. Keep the fire the coming!!!!! |
