The Viper is a Looping Star, I believe that was the model's name.

The Shuttle Loop at Knott's Berry Farm was installed at the same time as GL. Our's opened a week or two earlier than theirs just because the German engineers stopped to finish ours before they went out to CA.

Good luck on the mayor letter. I decided that the mayor and city council of this city have no interest in amusement activity. This became my opinion when Fertetta wanted to add the observation tower to the Houston Aquarium and the city gave him so much grief, he decided to install it in Kemah! I think that episode left him uniterested in trying to do anything else in Houston proper.

Don't let me steal your thunder!
It's just my opinion after the Fertetta tower gone sour deal, that the city has no interest. I could be wrong, but why did the mayor never say anything about AW other than, (Smiling the whole time) yeah it's closing! Sorry to see it go. Crying or Very sad

If I were the mayor at the very least I would have thrown out a tax break annoucement for any company that wanted to buy the park intact, and keep running an amusement park. I guess I am still a bit puzzled why they had 0 interest in the deal.

The Ferris Wheel almost didn't happen at DTAquarium. If you remember, when the wheel started to rise, there were issues raised about it. Even though it went through approvals, it almost didn't happen becuase of the proximity to the freeway....

Thats why I think that any new park would be built in Montgomery, Fort Bend or one of the other border counties but NOT Harris County. I bet those outlying counties will bend over backwards to attract something that will provide jobs and revenue.

Agreed,

Anything inner Houston is pretty much ruled out by the local government not being willing to make concessions to bring in tourist, jobs, and tax dollars to the city. Go figure? Shocked

I do think Galveston will become a lot more of a tourist destination with it's new addition. I have some small hopes that might spure some further amusement growth there. Synergy is a good thing! Wink
