Terminator at Six Flags Magic Mountain has flame throwers and it's a woodie as well. With that being said, I suppose it could be possible for them to use it on the New Texas Giant. As far as cost, are those flame throwers "that" expensive?

I am thinking that's just how expensive they were to BUY, and putting them out to pasture isn't economically feasible?

I wasn't aware that TS had flame throwers. But this is Texas. I know LA has its own summer days where it's hot as hell, but I can tell you right now that I don't want bursts of flames and the heat that comes with them, being launched in my face in the heat of a July day.

But as I understand it anyway, these rides with the fires and soundtracks are problematic anyway. In fact, I think I read it was TS whose trains had the looks as if the speakers for its soundtrack completely removed from the trains. Our (SFOT) Tony Hawk coaster cars no longer have cameras mounted in them.

When I rode TS last year the sound was already crapping out, and pretty much the same for X2 (which honestly after the lift hill you couldnt hear anything anyway until you hit the brake run.)

I know how hot it gets in Texas it can be just as brutal if not worse as down here in southern Louisiana. Personally I'm not too excited about a summer ride in 100+ degree heat and having flames thrown at me either.

With the video camera on THBS I wondered how long that would last (havn't been in a couple years.) I felt it was just another way to nickle and dime park patrons. Knott's Berry Farm had those cameras on a few of their coasters through last season, and when I returned this year they had been removed. I think the video camera is somewhat of a cute idea, but I cant recall the prices but I do remember it wasn't cheap.

All in all though I am excited about the transformation of the Texas Giant, I remember my first ride on it was one of the worst experiences I have ever had on a woodie. I look forward to checking it out next spring...

That first drop looks insane! I can't wait to ride it and those trains with the "Boss Hog" horns look pretty cool.

Giant construction photos, including a batch from this week (?) that detail what was once a lift helix, that is now a HUUUUGE swoop-through (at about ground level) around it instead. SA-WEET.

I would be surprised if it lasts in this configuration beyond the first month or two of operation.

I am not sure which part is the swoop through you refer to but this is looking insane at some points. It is going to be very unique.

So far this is the craziest track section I have seen.
Crazy INSANE Curve!

Mark,

There used to be a helix that circled the lift hill twice, after the mid-course brake and it dumped into that most-awesome magic carpet finale:

Now, putting a few of these together, it appears you'll be coming straight off the mid-course into this swooping turn:

^This is facing the station, lift to your right.

This one is a view of that pop at the top from a little up the lift walkway:

And you'll come off that pop into this:

View from behind the lift. Looks like it'll head straight into the magic carpet as you rise up after the swoop:

You bet! This whole project, trying to figure out what was coming next, has been like putting together a puzzle!! It is turning into one mean sucker, no doubt.

They have a target date for the first train to cycle..

I would estimate about 20% is left to be completed. No one has said for sure since they got past halfway, and that was during the summer sometime.

All 3 trains are also on site.
