OMG OMG OMG.... the new trains are a billion times better than I had even hoped they'd be.

NO tall headrests, NO shoulder restraints, headlights, taillights, looks like a '61 Cadillac DeVille convertible, three trains: blue, red, black.

The seats are faux leather built to look like saddle leather with a saddlehorn on the lap bar to hang on to.

OK, from a variety of sources including Amusement Today, press releases, SFOT facebook page, Screamscape, etc etc etc... here's what we know:

Three trains: metallic aqua, metallic red, metallic black
Headlights and taillights (no word as to whether they light up)
No OTSRs
No seat belts
Dual-wheel roadies, guides, and upstops
Plexiglas "windows" for arm guards
They're horny.
Stadium seating

OK, Screamscape has posted a teaser video
http://www.screamscape.com/html/six_flags_over_texas.htm

IF this is an indication of the new layout (and the existing track matches the video, so it seems to be), then there are a couple of questions answered in it:
[1] There is no double-helix around the lift hill, only a horseshoe passover
[2] The S-turn into the flying carpet is still there, as is the flying carpet... but it will be in a tunnel(!)

I don't think that video is very accurate, with regards to the helix. If there's only one pass, it's going under the lift, not over. There are already ledgers in place for a low, ground-level turn under the lift.

EDIT: I thought the placement of the ledgers would suggest a second pass, but after looking closer, I think they're just placed oddly because they're trying to use the old structure.

There's a low-level turn on the entrance to the helix as evidenced by the ledgers we saw at LSCT, but it quickly rises up higher than the station on the back end. It could easily go over the lift on the back end of the helix from there. It's difficult to tell, since all of that structure over the lift was removed so they could reprofile the lift and lay the track on it.

The ledgers are already in place, it's going under. The ledgers are pretty much on the ground, though I can't tell how close to the ground the track will be mounted.

Reading up on what I guess was an ACE event at Six Flags New England from over the weekend, the GM had a Q&A session, and someone from the event kept a running tally of the questions and their answers. In the middle, I found this:

Q. Why was the Flame Cannons removed from Bizarro?
A. We Felt they were not necessary and they will be used at SFOT on the Texas Giant to save money.

Should this be true, as I've heard the flame-throwing idea was tossed because of the whole "this is a wooden coaster" thing, then MAJOR facepalm. Besides the whole "wooden coaster/fire" thing...if they weren't necessary on Bizarro, why use them on something else? Sounds like a DUH to me.

Terminator at Six Flags Magic Mountain has flame throwers and it's a woodie as well. With that being said, I suppose it could be possible for them to use it on the New Texas Giant. As far as cost, are those flame throwers "that" expensive?
