Its been a couple of weeks since I had been to the park as we had a semi family reunion in Arkansas that included a trip to Silver Dollar City and Celebration Station (Look for a trip report on that later)
The park is looking better and better every time I go this year, but here is some huge news. Splashtown is now a DR. Pepper Shop!!!!!!! No more coke products! They sell Dr. Pepper products and even Gator Aid to fill those souvenir cups!
New Uniforms are everywhere. Security has some spiffy looking shirts with shorts and it seems that every department has new uniforms with the exception of the lifeguards which really do not need new uniforms anyway..
New Tubes!!!! (The new ones do not say Six Flags)
New Dances by the lifeguards while the wave pool is on break! (You have to see it. And nothing against the Electric Slide.....)
The last bit of merchandise that has any kind of Six Flags branding is being sold in a sidewalk sale (Mostly Superman Stuff from the looks of it) and while there is still no Splashtown specific merchandise, all the Six Flags stuff is gone, and as soon as Splashtown specific merchandise does get in I am sure I will be buying up the store...... Now there is a lot of generic stuff which is all pretty nice.
So we had a pretty good time. Crowds were minimal as our weather has been pretty bad the past week. I thought more people would be at the park yesterday, but it was a light day for the few hours we were there. We would have stayed a lot longer but I managed to get a leg cramp from hell that really limited my stair climbing ability (and still hurts this morning..this was one mean charley horse!)
I am getting more and more impressed with Parc Management based on what I am seeing at Splashtown. |

No kidding..... me too!!! I switch back and forth between Diet Coke and Diet Dr. Pepper anyway, and I drink a lot of Gatoraid too.
So just as long as it ISN'T "Pepsi"....

Actually Pepsi is now a sponsor of the Parc Parks. Dr Pepper is carried by Pepsi in Houston, and Pepsi also carries Gatorade. I am personally a Dr Pepper fan, and from what I have seen, Dr Pepper is more popular than Pepsi.
The park is looking good, and I am looking forward to whatever may happen next year with the new ownership.

Wow i hate pepsi, I can't stand ignorant people telling me it tastes the same, You can smell the differance. Too bad parc is pepsi, That's one reason i refuse to visit any pepsi park...IE Seaworld. (I like to drink soda at theme parks relaxing and refreshing. _________________ www.oldastroworld.com

As a Dr. Pepper Fan I am happy about Splashtown carrying Dr Pepper and Gator Aid. For you coke fans, well, I am sorry your disappointed but I never let what drinks are served stop me from going to a park. I am not a big Pepsi fan but at least that is not the only choice.
In these summer months, WATER should be the first choice anyway......
And now that Splashtown has Gator Aid, all the more reason to visit if for no other reason than to get that HUMONGOUS souvenir cup filled with the stuff. Not the standard cup but the really BIG one.
Which reminds me....
I owe some un-named Splashtown Security/Parking Lot employee a huge debt as I had left my cup on the roof of my car as we were leaving the park. He stopped me and signaled that I had something on my roof and it was my BIG CUP! I would have been devastated to lose it so THANK YOU from an dumb -a$$ guest who forgot to take his cup off the roof of his car!!! |
